Selfridges Special BlackBerry Bold

Selfridges Special BlackBerry Bold

The owner of the department store, Selfridges, must have a soft spot for BlackBerry devices, as it has commissioned 10 exclusive limited edition Blackberry Bold smartphones from RIM to celebrate its centennial year. These devices have been redesigned with a leather back-plate with the iconic Selfridges Pantone 109 yellow color, not to mention with slightly redesigned number keys on the keypad. Each of these devices will be going for £1,000 each, so the VIP support that will come with the device shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Howard Stern Prefers BlackBerry Bold

Howard Stern Prefers BlackBerry Bold

Palm might have been hoping for some good (and free) publicity when it sent a pre-production Palm Pre to Howard Stern, though it seems like it achieved just the reverse of that. After fiddling with the phone, Stern claimed that he preferred the BlackBerry Bold instead of the Pre. Unfortunately for Palm, the deal breaker for Stern was the fact that the Pre is not able to connect to Lotus Notes. Of course, a lot of the general public doesn’t use Lotus notes, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t want the feature. Would you buy a phone just because it supports Lotus Notes?

BlackBerry Bold 4.6.0.247 Firmware Leaked

BlackBerry Bold 4.6.0.247 Firmware Leaked

RIM certainly needs to stop the leaks that are coming from it, though we’re certainly not complaining. Next up on the leaked firmware list is the 4.6.0.247 firmware, which is meant for the BlackBerry Bold. As usual, you’ll want to keep in mind that this is a leaked version of the firmware, meaning it’s not an officially supported version (yet). Always remember to backup your data if you intend on trying this out, and remember that you do so at your own risk.

BlackBerry Bold Pulled In Japan

BlackBerry Bold Pulled In Japan

Sure the BlackBerry Bold over in Japan might be more juiced up than what we have over here, but that doesn’t mean the device is without its problems. Japanese carrier DoCoMo has suspended all sales of the BlackBerry Bold due to overheating issues related to the device. The Bold, which was launched on February 20th, has caused more than 30 complaints to be sent to the carrier regarding overheating keypads while charging. As a result, DoCoMo has suspended sales of the Bold while it investigates the issue. RIM is obviously not happy with the issue, but was quick to limit the damage to Japan only by stating “This issue appears to be specifically limited to the BlackBerry Bold devices sold in Japan since last week and sales of BlackBerry Bold devices in other countries are unaffected by this matter.”

BlackBerry Storm Telescopic Lens

BlackBerry Storm Telescopic Lens

Think your BlackBerry Storm or Bold’s camera can’t see far enough? Well, you can always check out the telescopic zoom accessory which Brando is currently offering. Of course, there is no doubt that it will make your BlackBerry looks rather ugly, and it certainly won’t turn you into James Bond, but if you’re looking for something to add a little spark to you BlackBerry’s camera, it might just be worth checking out.

T-Mobile Pulls European BlackBerry Bold

T-Mobile Pulls European BlackBerry Bold

European BlackBerry users who are on T-Mobile might not be too happy at what’s coming from T-Mobile in Europe. It seems that there is a bug on the BlackBerry Curve that causes overage on customers’ plans, and therefore T-Mobile has pulled the Curve off shelves, and taken the Bold down too, just to play safe. Hopefully a new firmware is all that it will take to sort the problems out.
