Android Market Blocks Cupcake Users?
Posted on: Posted on April 15, 2009 3:35 PM

Some of you might have already installed the Cupcake update for your G1, and as far as feedback goes, the update is certainly worth the trouble of getting it ported and installed on your device. It does seem that there is a little bit of bad news though. Folks with certain Cupcake builds are finding themselves locked out of the Android Market, which is certainly a deal breaker for many. There isn’t any official word on this just yet, but hopefully Google will relent and allow users who are running Cupcake back on the Android Market. The good news is that this ban only seems to be affecting one of two haykuro cupcake builds, as it is stated:
I want to clarify that this is currently only affecting one of the two haykuro cupcake builds. The “G” aka “google-sourced” line. There is a second “H” aka “HTC-sourced” line that is currently unaffected by this Market change. So if you get the “H” build, you’ll still have market access. For Now.

Android Market Merchant System Fixed
Posted on: Posted on March 18, 2009 8:27 AM

If you’re a developer who’s been trying to submit a paid app into Google’s Android Market recently, you’ll be fairly familiar with the problems that have plagued the system. Due to said problem, Android developers have been unable to release their paid apps into the Android market, and developers who try to do so are greeted with an error. Fortunately Google says that it has fixed the problem, so everything should be peachy keen. In their own words:
“The issue you were having should now be resolved. Please reply to me here if you experience any further issue and thank you for your patience!” Alden, Google employee

Google Now Accepting Paid Apps For Android Market
Posted on: Posted on February 13, 2009 12:05 PM

It really doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Google is now accepting submissions for the end-user pricing for applications in the US version of its Android Market. Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France and Spain should be following suit sometimes later this year. The good (or bad) thing is that only Google Checkout is accepted as payment. You might want to keep an eye out for developments related to this, and we’ll see whether Google’s offering can dethrone Apple’s App Store.

Android Market Paid Apps Coming?
Posted on: Posted on February 10, 2009 9:28 AM

Google’s Android Market isn’t doing to badly, though of course, it hasn’t had the effect like that of Apple’s App Store just yet. One thing that will help Google move the Android Market forwards will be the inclusion of paid applications, and if the recent rumors are to be believed, Google will be launching their paid app market later this week. Of course, there isn’t any official confirmation on this issue just yet, but since it won’t take long before we’re (happily) staring at the weekend again, it looks like we’ll find out the whole story rather soon.
