South Korean company Pantech has come out ahead of Samsung in releasing what the company claims to be the first ceramic bodied smartphone in the world. The Pantech Vega Racer, now has a younger brother with an equally original name, The Pantech Vega Racer 2 is expected to hit South Korea at the end of this month or at the start of May and the specifications attached to the device are very interesting.
Besides the aforementioned ceramic body, the device comes with a 4.8-inch 720p HD touchscreen. The phone will be supported by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor and reportedly will clock at 1.5GHz. The device which is hoped to gain sales of about 2 million units (double what its older brother did) in South Korea also comes with the blazing fast LTE support. Like the first version of the Vega Racer, this device is not touted to come over to the States but if the ‘ceramic body’ does become an important spec in the future, maybe Pantech which has provided smartphones to US carriers in the past might opt to cater for the American market.
