180°-Freeze video showcases Lumia 800 imaging capabilities

Published

on

Nokia’s partnership with Burton at the Open Snowboarding Championships have yielded positive results as a team attempted to showcase the imaging capabilities of the Nokia Lumia 800 during the tournament recently. A short film was created using the output from 18 phones which were supported by some rigging to keep them in place and the video was stitched together to create some very unique effects.

The duo, Tony Sajdak and Björn Kummeneje revealed that no special hardware besides the support rigging was needed and that all synchronization was accomplished via software. Tony stated that both of them developed an application that ran simultaneously on all 18 phones to record a short movie of a trampoline jump in a 180-degree bullet-time shot.

One of the challenges the duo faced was to connect all 18 phones and to record a synchronized video over the local WiFi network. After some tweaking, they said that everything went smoothly mainly because of the Windows 7.5 Phone which hastened the process and reduced the head ache. The team worked for 3 days to collect the necessary footage which would be downloaded to a rendering server after every shot.

The pair were pleasantly surprised with the device stating, “we learned a lot about working with the Lumia 800 and how to maximize the performance of the Windows 7.5 Phone OS. But the biggest thing learned was that it’s possible to do really advanced stuff that it was not designed to do, which opens it up for many interesting ideas for new projects.” We have embedded the full video above for your viewing pleasure.

Alleged Nokia C1 Render Seen

Published

on

Nokia-C1-RumorNow here is an interesting leaked render of what is allegedly known as the Nokia C1, which is supposed to be the next smartphone which will feature the Nokia logo – never mind the fact that the Finnish company had already sold its smartphone business to Microsoft some time back. Well, the most interesting aspect about this leaked render would be the fact that it sports an Android operating system on the foreground, while another model hiding behind it looks as though it runs on Windows 10 Mobile.

Does this mean that we will have to face not one, but two variants of the same device? Only time will be able to tell, but for the moment, it will be an agonizing wait until 2016 as that is when the alleged Nokia C1 smartphone will launch then.

Android 5.0 Lollipop On A Nokia 1100?

Published

on

google-lollipopA quick look at the calendar shows that we are still in March – early March, in fact, and April is still some ways of. Still, this has not stopped the fact that an alleged leak of a Nokia 1100 has been benchmarked, and in that particular benchmark, it revealed that the Nokia 1100 would sport Android 5.0 Lollipop as the mobile operating system version of choice – how cool would that be if it were to be true?

Other hardware specifications in the alleged leaked benchmark sheet point to a quad-core MT6582 processor which has been clocked at 1.3GHz, a 720p resolution display, and most probably 512MB RAM. We would take this bit of information with more than just a pinch of salt – perhaps and entire tablespoonful.
