Apple and Motorola have been at it in Germany, much like Samsung before them, and while Motorola might have appeared to have the upper hand for a while, it looks like things took a 180 degree turn. It turns out that Apple has been granted an injunction against Motorola Android smartphones that utilize the “slide-to-unlock” patent, a patent which caused quite a bit of uproar when it was revealed that it had been granted to Apple.
This slide-to-unlock feature is commonplace as far as iOS and Android devices are concerned, and naturally Motorola will be appealing this injunction. Should they fail their appeal, there is a good chance that this injunction will be a permanent one against an array of Motorola Android smartphones in Germany, not to mention that losing the appeal will also set a precedent that Apple can then use against other Android handset manufacturers whose devices use this feature as well.
