Sony Ericsson has plans to update their line of 2011 Xperia Android smartphones to Ice Cream Sandwich come early 2012, but for those who might be a bit impatient, the good news is that a very early alpha build of the Android 4.0 for the Xperia Play is up for download.
It should be noted that when we say very early, we do mean very early in the sense that you should probably not use it for your daily driver, assuming that those were your intentions. This ROM is courtesy of XDA forum member nickholtus and he has successfully managed to port Android 4.0 over onto the Xperia Play, but we guess there are still tons of kinks he has yet to work out.
If you’d like more information, or even give it a go on your device (not recommended),you can pop on over to the XDA forums where you will be able to find the ROM up for download along with a list of what’s working and what isn’t.
