Good news for those living in France who have yet to get their hands on the iPhone 4S. It seems that the French courts have decided to reject Samsung’s request to ban the iPhone 4S, although it should be taken note that this is a preliminary injunction and that if Samsung emerges successful with their lawsuit, this would be a whole different story. It seems on top of the rejection, the courts made Samsung pay for Apple’s legal fees in the amount of €100,000 (~$134,090).
Seems like Samsung can’t really catch a break here despite their small victories. For those unfamiliar, this is part of the ongoing legal battle between Samsung and Apple with both sides claiming patent infringement. So far it seems that Apple has been scoring major victories with injunctions in Australia, Germany and the Netherlands. Will France be Samsung’s chance to turn things around? Given how they just got their request denied, it does appear to be rather bleak but we will wait and see what the final outcome is.
