Apple is awarded a multitasking patent

We’re not sure how, but Apple has managed to score themselves a new patent which based on its description is a lawsuit that’s just waiting to happen. It patent has been described as a “portable electronic device with graphical user interface supporting application switching”, which in other words is a multitasking smartphone.

Thanks to Apple’s patent lawyers, the patent has been worded in such a way that it is very broad that could cover just about any smartphone with multitasking (between calls and apps) capabilities. Will this patent hold up in court? Well, we’re not patent or intellectual property experts ourselves, but based on our understanding it does look like Apple has managed to land themselves a new weapon they can use in their “thermonuclear” fight against Android.
