There are reports from Digitimes that are suggesting that Amazon may have just increased the number of orders for their upcoming Kindle Fire Android tablet. The orders had started originally at 3.5 million, but it was soon increased to 4 million, and now Digitimes is reporting that their sources are saying that Amazon has ramped the orders for the Kindle Fire up to a whopping 5 million.
Should Amazon be successful in selling all 5 million of their tablets, research group Gartner is saying that Amazon will then be in control of 8% of the tablet market for 2011. This increase in orders is apparently due to the demand on the Amazon Kindle Fire being a lot higher than they had originally anticipated. With a low price point of $199 and with e-reader capabilities, we don’t see why people wouldn’t be rushing to get their hands on it.
