Dell rumored to be waiting for Windows Apollo, sitting out on Mango

If you’re hoping to see Dell make a smartphone comeback with a series of Windows Phone 7.5 based handsets, you might be in for a disappointment. Dell hasn’t had much luck with their smartphone offerings in the past, and if these rumors are to be believed, it looks like Dell could be sitting this round out and instead wait for Microsoft to release the next Windows Phone update, which has been code named Apollo.

Dell had apparently a Mango phone in the works called the “Wrigley”, but the rumors said it has been scrapped for whatever reasons Dell may have had. Apollo is expected to be called Windows Phone 8, and supposedly it will be launched to coincide with Windows 8, which is expected some time next year.
