Most of us are probably aware that Apple’s iPad is considered to be the tablet to beat, or to become. Granted there are tablets out there with better hardware and at a lower price, but yet many still flock over to the iPad, and so we can’t say that we’re surprised to hear that Alibaba, China’s answer to Google, will be looking to launch a tablet that will rival the iPad by the end of 2011.
The device will be running on Alibaba’s own OS, Allyun, and will be manufactured by Tianyu. We’ve heard many claims in the past where companies have attempted to build and sell tablets that will rival the iPad, but we’ve yet to see any that actually do, although at the moment Amazon’s Kindle Fire is doing pretty well for itself in terms of pre-orders. Details of the tablet are not known at the moment but we’re guessing that more will be revealed over time.
