So we all know that Nokia has decided to abandon MeeGo and will slowly stop support Symbian. They have instead allied themselves with Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, but according to new rumors they may be building another new operating system called Meltemi. It has been said that Mary McDowell, Head of Nokia Mobile Phones, and will be Linux-based and will be targeting low-end handsets.
By low-end we’re thinking that perhaps Nokia may be attempting to create budget smartphones to target developing markets such as India. Could this platform really be in works? According to a tweet by Eldar Murtazin, it does exist but apparently he thinks that there is no future for this platform. I guess we will have to wait and see.
