Non-Verizon Xperia Play spotted at the FCC

Sony Ericsson’s Android gaming handset, the Xperia Play was recently spotted at the FCC, but what’s interesting about the device that was spotted is that it won’t be released on Verizon despite previous confirmations about the phone headed to Big Red. The Xperia Play that went through the FCC didn’t pack a CDMA or 4G LTE radio that could let it connect to Verizon’s network, and it packs a 900/2100mHz UMTS radio instead. Does this mean that we’ll be seeing it on other carriers first or will there be a simultaneous launch? Or is Verizon not selling the device anymore? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
