ericsson-makes-worlds-first-hd-cdma-call

It is all about firsts in the world of technology these days and Ericsson claims to have bagged a laurel in this regard. As per Ericsson, they have succeeded in making the world’s first wide band high definition CDMA voice call. Ericsson used the Enhanced Variable Rate Codec Narrowband-Wideband (EVRC-NW) codec in a lab with equipment from Qualcomm running on a CDMA network to make this possible. Such a voice call renders speech in a wider spectral range which increases the voice quality while decreasing listening fatigue at the same time. Most carriers are interested in speed these days, but Ericsson has shifted the focus back to voice call quality, which although sounds basic, but is still very important.
