Not wanting to be left behind in the smartphone race, RIM has announced that NFC-capability will be a feature of their upcoming BlackBerry handsets this year. RIM has been pretty quiet of late, with their tablet, the PlayBook being the only source of buzz for them, and with no new phones shown off at the Mobile World Congress, we’re wondering what they have up their sleeves. Will NFC bring RIM back on track with the rest of the competition? Probably not, but it’s a step in the right direction if they’re choosing to adopt new technologies for their operating system.
