It looks like HP is going to take a page out of Apple’s books by marketing itself as a “cool” brand. HP’s CEO, Leo Apotheker recently gave an in-depth interview with BBC and discussed about how he’s going to make it happen. Apotheker hopes that in the future, “people will say ‘this is as cool as HP,’ not ‘this is as cool as Apple.’” – Big ambitions for a company that isn’t exactly known for being in the forefront of cool devices. How does HP plan to do this? Well, firstly they will be releasing products much faster than before. When they announce a device, they are going to have it in consumers’ hands not months later, when everybody has forgotten about them – but in a few weeks instead. And if things go according to plan, webOS devices unveiled at the February 9 event should be on the shelves by March. Their future products are also going to be shipped under the HP brand so we won’t be seeing Palm around anymore. HP will also be unveiling their plans for the future on March 14, so stay tuned. We’re just as curious as you are to what “cool” tricks they have up their sleeves.
