The chief of Intel, Paul Otellini recently announced that their Atom processors will be making their way to smartphones- just not anytime soon. The earliest possible date he gave would be the second half of next year, so don’t hold your breath if you’re excited. At present, Intel Atom chip, the Z600 is still undergoing testing to have all its problems sorted out before it is officially launched. With current Atom chips consuming too much battery to be used on tablets at the moment, it’s going to be interesting to see what Intel can come up with to compete against the dominant ARM chips that are being used in mobile devices right now.
