Windows Marketplace Will Not Support WinMob 6.1

In what certainly seems like an incredibly stupid own goal, Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows Marketplace will not be coming to Windows Mobile 6.1 devices. It’s scant consolation to hear that Microsoft has relaxed the upgrade restrictions for Windows Mobile 6.1 devices, accepting devices with 400MHz and 128MB, though it’s up to the manufacturer whether they want to offer the upgrade or not. With the head start that Apple already has with its AppStore, this honestly seems like a silly move from the boys over at Redmond.
