Opera Turbo Demo At MWC 2009
Story posted on: February 16, 2009. Filed in: others.

We mentioned that Opera Turbo would be making an appearance at MWC 2009, and we’re spot on. In case you’re unsure of what the hype is all about, Opera Turbo uses a server-side rendering engine that renders content on the server side and then sent to the client. Demos show that Opera Turbo was about 3.5x faster than a browser not using their technique. Opera plans to monetize this by selling Opera Turbo as a pre-installed browser to wireless carriers who are trying to keep up with the increased bandwidth usage of today. After all, buying new software is cheaper than upgrading existing infrastructure, not to mention that users will certainly be happy with faster browsing speeds. Win-win for everybody, isn’t it?
