Motion Detecting SIM Card
Story posted on: February 17, 2009. Filed in: others.

While we’re seeing accelerometers appear in many modern cell phones, the folks over at Oberthur Technologies have a different take on the matter, as they’ve come up with the first motion detecting and handset-independent SIM card, dubbed SIMsense. Some of the applications of such a device include allowing users to shake their phone when receiving a call in order to send out a preset SMS, or dial an emergency contact if a sudden fall is detected. It remains to be seen how widely this technology will be adopted though.
