Exploding Batteries?

While everybody has heard stories of exploding cell phone batteries from China, the news that a cell phone battery that exploded and killed a man was quite worrying. Now news has surfaced that it was actually a homemade gun that killed the man, not an exploding battery. Apparently the man accidentally dropped it, causing the gun to discharge or explode which killed him, and also destroyed the cell phone which he had in his shirt pocket. Of course, this could be a cover up, but we certainly wouldn’t want to dismiss the possibility that the cell phone battery might have been innocent.
