Early Nokia 5800 Units Have Speaker Issues

Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic has been launched in North America, but there is a bit of bad news that is accompanying the launch. It seems that Nokia’s original speaker supplier for the device didn’t do a very good job, and the speakers started dropping like flies. Nokia has since switched suppliers, but all the 5800 XpressMusic devices made before February might have these defective speakers. The good news is that Nokia has acknowledged this and is happy to replace the problematic speakers when they fail; the bad news is that your speakers have a rather high chance of biting the dust (if it’s from the initial batch). Nokia customer care line should be able to inform you if your device is affected by providing them with your phone’s IMEI, so you might want to check it out, just to play safe. You can check your IMEI number by punching *#06# into your Nokia phone and hit submit.
