Nokia’s freshly-unveiled N97 must be sending shivers down competitors’ spines, and it’s a good wake-up call to competitors to buck up, and Sony Ericsson should take note of it. Sony Ericsson should be gearing up to unveil its new flagship Walkman phone next year, though based on the current specifications that we can dig up, it won’t hold a candle to Nokia’s new baby. Features of the upcoming Walkman flagship phone include:

• Slider form factor
• Compact metal housing
• 2.6" display
• Wi-Fi connectivity
• 8.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus
• Face detection, photo-flash
• QVGA video recording at 30 fps
• Walkman 4.0 software
• Standard 3.5mm audio jack
• Stereo speakers
• Dedicated music player keys
