iPhone 3G Nabs 16.6% Market Share
Story posted on: December 2, 2008. Filed in: apple.

The currently economic climate isn’t doing the smartphone market any good, but it looks like Apple’s iPhone has single-handedly saved the smartphone industry from a decline this past summer. Aside from being the second most popular smartphone in the world, the iPhone also represents about 16.6% of the entire smartphone market, second only to Nokia, which is no mean feat, considering that there are giants such as HTC and Sony Ericsson lurking around. Nokia’s own market share has dropped from 63.3 to 43.6%, mostly due to the rise of the iPhone. How long will it take before the iPhone becomes the number 1 smartphone in the world? It looks like it’s making steady progress towards that goal.
