Mobile Phones On Planes
Story posted on: October 15, 2008. Filed in: others.

We might all be able to use our mobile phones in the airplane in the near future. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is now proposing that Australian airlines allow the use of mobile phones for domestic and international flights. To do so, they would need to install a “jammer†that would block passengers’ mobile phones from picking up signals from numerous base stations on the ground. Such jammers are currently forbidden on planes, due to fact that they would interfere with on-board communications systems.
