Oki has recently exhibited a new communication device based on DSRC, which is a standard for inter-vehicle communications. This device can issue alerts when a pedestrian carrying the device comes close to a vehicle equipped with a DSRC-based automotive communication device. Both the pedestrian and the vehicle driver will hear the alerts on their units, and since it uses DSRC, there will be no communication charges. Free is always good, right?
