iPhone To Ride The Manga Wave In Japan
Story posted on: July 14, 2008. Filed in: apple.

While the iPhone is conquering many parts of the world, Japan was always one of those countries where people weren’t too sure whether it’d take off as well as it had in other countries. The iPhone 3G managed to sell out on Friday in Japan, so it can’t have been too bad, and its sales were probably helped along by a special feature that was being stressed, which is the fact that the iPhone can display Japanese manga comics.
Manga is a really big thing in Japan, and there were demonstrations at the Digital Publishing Fair in Tokyo to show uses that they can read manga on their iPhone. With a touch of their finger, they can move the comics back and forth, or flip them 90 degress. So it seems like a lot of Japanese will be using their shiny new iPhone’s as a comic book reader.
