Patrick Gelsinger, general manager of the Intel’s digital enterprise group has expressed disappointment over Apple’s decision not to take up Intel’s Atom platform for its future phones and digital media devices, and instead opted for custom chips designed in-house with their recently-acquired P.A Semi.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs had previously revealed that P.A.Semi would be building the chips for both the iPhone and the iPod, which effectively quashed any questions to as to why Apple acquired them in the first place.
