A Phone That Measures CO2, What Next?

Blue Telephony and GPS Group Italia have just announced that they're working together to produce phones that will be able to sense and display the levels of CO2 in the vicinity.

Their press release talks about “integrated sensor technologies”, which is probably what allows it to sense CO2. Whether most people will care whether their phones can sense the level of CO2 is another issue, though some might find it useful for their kids, especially in their favorite places. It will be very interesting to see how users take to such interesting new technologies.

If it means the phone can function as a smoke-detector, I could see some use for it.
