Sony Snubs Sony Ericsson To Work On Its Own PSP Phone

Sony Snubs Sony Ericsson To Work On Its Own PSP Phone

PSP phone rumors have been around for time now, and reports recently have mentioned again that there might be a Sony PSP phone arriving sometime around Christmas 2009. Apparently, Sony will be snubbing Sony Ericsson, as they plan on keeping their Playstation branding all to themselves.

There are even reports that say creating a PSP phone wouldn’t be that hard for Sony, since the PSP already includes WiFi, though this sounds a little dodgy, as there is obviously more to a phone that just WiFi. Either way, users will no doubt be keeping their ears pricked for news regarding a PSP phone, let’s hope that there are some truth in these rumors.

iPhone Set To Have iTunes Remote Control Functionality

iPhone Set To Have iTunes Remote Control Functionality

Amongst the recent iPhone and iTunes updates that were released by Apple, there appears that Apple is preparing to give iPhone or iPod Touch owners a free iTunes remote control application.

Though there aren’t many details at the moment, it appears that there is an obvious reference to the new application in the developer notes for the new build of iTunes 7.7. Most likely it will be the iPhone connecting to the computer via WiFi or Bluetooth to control iTunes. Hopefully Apple will incorporate some advanced features into this program, aside from the usual play / pause buttons.

Is MMS Included In The iPhone 3G?

Is MMS Included In The iPhone 3G?

Will users get MMS on the iPhone 3G? That just can’t be possible, after all, the iPhone doesn’t have MMS! An internal memo circulating around AT&T (which doesn’t seem so “internal” now) reportedly lists a couple of features that will supposedly be included in the upcoming iPhone 3G. Surprisingly, this MMS is reported to be listed amongst said features.

Whether or not the iPhone 3G will really have MMS remains to be seen. Either way, all will be answered pretty soon, as the official launch isn’t too far away.

Nokia's Supernova Series Arrives

Nokia's Supernova Series Arrives

The were rumors, and there were pictures, but now Nokia's Supernova series is finally official! These latest phones will slot in as Nokia's new mid-range fashion phones. There are a total of 4 phones announced at the moment, the 7210, 7310, 7510, and 7610. The 7210 and 7310 are candybars, the 7510 a flip phone and the 7610 is a slider.

The 7210 is a tri-band GSM phone with EDGE, along with a 2 megapixel camera and FM radio, set to launch in Q3 for around $189.

The 7310 is much like the 7210, but supports Nokia's Xpress-On faceplates, TV-out as well as support for GSM 850. These additional features add another $55 to the cost of the phone, which surprisingly, is available now.

The 7510 sports the ever-popular flip design, and will have similar specs to the 7310, and is scheduled for Q4 at around $283 and in colors such as “Fatal Red”.

And last, but certainly not least, the 7610 features a slider design, along with a juicy 3.2 megapixel camera, and is scheduled for next quarter at $354.

New Symbian Foundation Causes UIQ To Cut Jobs

New Symbian Foundation Causes UIQ To Cut Jobs

While a lot of Symbian supporters will no doubt be rejoicing at the latest announcement of the creation of the Symbian Foundation, there probably will be a lot of people who will be disappointed at the announcement that follows it.

It seems that with the Symbian Foundation's creation, there is the issue of positional redundancy, as S60 and UIQ have obviously become good friends. UIQ has been the first to start chopping heads, as they announced a total of 200 layoffs, which amounts to over half of their 375-strong staff. UIQ has never been as popular as Nokia's S60, so they probably will be the ones hit hardest by this merger. Hopefully all this sad news will bring about a positive development in terms of Symbian as a whole.

Helio Stores Starting To Close Down

Helio Stores Starting To Close Down

Helio seems to be going through a serious period of uncertainty. First it was said that they were going to be sold off to Virgin, then spy shots of their supposed upcoming Ocean 2 are leaked, and now it seems that their stores are shutting down.

Apparently this shot was taken at a Helio store in Denver, and stated that “The Helio Store is closed. Contact their customer support”. Doesn't sound too encouraging, but lets hope that this story has a happy ending, one way or another.

Bluepod Media Using Bluetooth As An Advertising Medium

Bluepod Media Using Bluetooth As An Advertising Medium

Bluepod Media seem to be taking advantage of the popularity of Bluetooth in mobile phones nowadays. Most phones (save for the bargain basement type) nowadays have Bluetooth. What was once a luxury feature is almost becoming the basic requirement of a phone.

BluePod Media are now using a Bluetooth server to serve advertising or marketing messages to users within the broadcast radius. With these Bluetooth servers, they are able to manage content management and data delivery audits remotely from their operations HQ in Brighton.

With Bluetooth fast becoming one of the more popular methods of distributing ads, sometimes it’s hard to imagine where the privacy bit has to come in. After all, we’re now talking about SMS spam and SMS filters, will users need Bluetooth filters in the future?

More Blurry Treo 800 Shots

More Blurry Treo 800 Shots

It appears that there are more “Treo 800” pictures floating around the internet again. With the amount of fakes being passed off as originals, and the fact that this picture is rather blurry, users will probably have to take this picture with a pinch of salt. Still, it’s worth checking out.
