Sony Ericsson G702 Approved By The FCC

The Sony Ericsson G702, previously only showing up in spy pictures and rumors, seems a lot more realistic, as its just received the FCC approval. Initial reports were met with skepticism as it had a rather strange form factor, not least the 3-way scroll wheel similar to that of the LG Shine.
This is another phone in the G series, which is targeted to the “generation internetâ€, and seems to be the first phone to be running on UIQ 3.3. Its manual indicates that it will have the Opera 9.5 browser, which is supposed to have a great rendering engine and good interface, and should be usable worldwide as it’s a quad-band phone.
The G702 will be the first Sony Ericsson phone with widgets, and will include a hardware shortcut key to them. Images of facebook, weather and YouTube seem to be amongst the list of widgets.
Aside from that, it will also have an integrated GPS receiver and a navigation application, though it’s still unknown as to whether it will be a full version, or just a trial version.
