FCC featured HP iPAQ 900 Series

FCC featured HP iPAQ 900 Series

Trawling through the FCC website will show that the upcoming HP iPAQ 900 series smartphones in the works. No idea on when this will be released to Joe public and from which carrier will you be able to get it from, but AT&T is a very real possibility. With its release being pegged back for quite some time already, hopefully the specifications within won't be too outdated in this day and age.

Clearer view of Sony Ericsson Z780

Clearer view of Sony Ericsson Z780

Well, with this much clearer image of the Sony Ericsson Z780, there is no further doubt about the status of this handset making its way into public domain. The only question that remains now is this - when will it be released, and how much will it cost? What you see above is the Z780 being compared with its predecessor, the Z720. I like the slimmer Z780 from this view, but somehow the Z720 is more elegant and has a design which is more timeless. This is tipped to be a mid-range market handset.

LG to challenge iPhone

LG to challenge iPhone

LG is not going to let the iPhone continue to win more market share over other handsets, and plans to check Apple's wonder handset by releasing a new range of cell phones that feature touch screen user interface as well. After all, LG was the first company to release an 'iPhone clone' with the Prada KE850, although that was released a couple of months before the iPhone ever saw light, it showed just how much of a hype Apple's iPhone managed to garner way before its release. I guess to go up against the iPhone takes plenty of guts, the right device and moment, but it is always nice to see other companies try to outdo their competitors as the customer will win out in the end.

iPhone Clone MP4 Player

iPhone Clone MP4 Player

The KL-285 you see here looks like an iPhone at first glance, but rest assured it does not feature the easy-to-use user interface on the real iPhone which everyone loves. You do get a fair bit of rudimentary features as found in most China-made MP4 players including a microSD memory card slot, support for 3GP, MP4, and AVI video formats, MP3 playback, a clock and calendar function, an e-book reader and an integrated FM radio. The rest are :-

  • 2.8" touch screen 320 x 240 resolution display
  • 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability
  • Built-in speaker
  • 4.5 hour playback for video
  • 8 hour playback for audio
It is interesting to note that this is available for sale in bulk - the chassis alone will set you back by $47, whereas 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB of internal flash memory will cost $3.75, $6.30 and $12.30, respectively. Anyone wants to make a bulk order? I think calling it an iPhone clone gives it too much credit – after all, it doesn’t function as a cell phone in the first place.

Samsung B300 For The Budget Conscious

Samsung B300 For The Budget Conscious

If you're in the mood for a cheap prepaid handset, surely the Samsung B300 ought to fit your budget. After all, it comes with old technology such as a 65k color CSTN display, internal and external displays and a relatively small form factor of 87mm x 45mm x 18.6mm. Samsung has already announced that this will be skewed towards the prepaid user market, so chances are it will cost a whole lot less than a Benjamin if you ever wish to pick one up for your own use. There is no word on when this dual-band clamshell handset will be released though.

LG Voyager Not Exclusive To Verizon

LG Voyager Not Exclusive To Verizon

Guess Verizon won't be the only carrier in the US to offer the LG Voyager in the near future, with LG planning to release this smartphone via AT&T and Sprint as well after seeing it perform gangbusters sales figures of over 1.1 million to date via Verizon. No idea on whether there will be any changes made to the handset when it debuts on both carriers, but it would be nice to see HSDPA-based 3G access being made available for AT&T while Sprint's model ought to see the launch of a broadcast digital TV service.

Samsung B510 Sneak Peek

Samsung B510 Sneak Peek

Fancy taking a look at the Samsung B510? It somewhat resembles the Samsung M620, save for a more flat disposition and sharper corners. It is clearly the lesser endowed handset compared to the M510, and looks set to fall under the budget segment. No idea on when it will hit the streets though.

  • 65k color CSTN display
  • Bluetooth A2DP connectivity
  • Integrated music player
  • Built-in FM tuner
