iPhone Dev Team jailbreaks and unlocks iPhone 2.0, months before release

The iPhone SDK brought more than just third-party devs out for the hunt. The iPhone Dev Team hacked their way through the future 2.0 firmware upgrade, and has finagled a pre-emptive jailbreaking and unlocking of the unreleased update.

It seems more logical for Apple to develop a completely unlocked platform, instead of dipping into the money pot with an iTunes App Store. The amount of phones they'll sell compared to the lost revenue from apps would more than make up for the loss, and make some Apple users a very happy crowd, and the company itself a market must.
