Qualcomm surges ahead with multi-mode 4G chip
Story posted on: February 7, 2008. Filed in: others.

Qualcomm has announced that they are the first to have created a chip which can meet the standards of multiple 4G networking standards. Not only can their chip support Long Term Evolution (LTE), but also meets the standards of the LTE's lesser known competitors.
The MDM9600 and MDM 9800 chips will offer support for the upcoming EVDO Rev. B and the UMB standards for CDMA broadband speeds. The chips will also support 3.5G technology, such as the earlier EVDO format. Qualcomm plans to sample the devices in Spring 2009, which gives us a time frame on when we can see 4G become the new 3G.Tags:
