Google branded gPhone with Samsung hardware on the way?

You'd be hard pressed to find a rumor starter more active than industry insider Robert X. Cringely, and his most recent speculation is one that might turn more than a few heads. Cringey states with certainty that Google has two self-branded gPhones in the works made by Samsung for release in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009, one being a smartphone, and the other a low- to mid-range device.
Supposedly, both phones with support WiFi, with the smartphone model resembling a Blackberry Pearl, but with a flipping screen which reveals a QWERTY keypad. While the smartphone has no pricing estimate, the lower end model is intended to be sub-$100. Again, please take this as a vague rumor for now and by no means a factual piece of news.Tags:
