AT&T lets current iPhone owners upgrade without changing contract
Story posted on: February 7, 2008. Filed in: apple.

The announcement of the 16 GB iPhone raised some questions for those of us who already own the 8 GB model of the device. AT&T has made an announcement answering some questions about upgrading to the 16 GB model.
Users were discovering that it seemed their contracts were automatically being extended to a new 2-year agreement, but AT&T says that because of a quirk in the iPhone activation, this is just an illusion. The new phone is automatically backdated to the original contract date, so you won't have to wait even longer to upgrade again. Users can also keep their same number when they make the jump.Tags:
