Can you boost your iPhone signal with scotch tape?

Apparently, you can. It seems as though a loose SIM card housing, causing insignificant contact between the device and the SIM card, could be a serious issue for some iPhone users. This problem can be solved with a number of different solutions, including MacGuyver-type strategies featuring paper clips and what ever else you might have laying around.

One method which is supposed to work the best is placing a piece of scotch tape on the SIM card to physically hold it tighter in its housing. This is said to greatly increase the signal strength, despite its apparent simplicity. We're not too sure if this works or not, seeing as the AT&T SIM card is digital, and not really "slightly connected" at any given time.

Power cycle your iPhone daily:

Turn it off as you normally would.

Wait a minute

Turn it back on.

Do this a few times and the SIM should reregister with the nearest tower.

I've given up on gimmicks and tricks and bought a actual signal booster. I got mine from www.Wi-Ex.com and have had really great results. They have different makes to fit whatever you need (car, office, home, apt). I heard about it from iPhoneAtlas and its definitely worth every penny!
