True, the CoverFlow feature for the iPhone's iPod feature is a cool selling point, but why was this sort of interface only used to browse through album art? The hackers over at iPhoneDevDocs have whipped up a few hacks to further utilize the jukebox style sliding navigation of CoverFlow, including image browsing and application browsing.

Google releases native search app for S60

Google releases native search app for S60

With last week's announcement that Google would be added to Nokia's Mobile Search service, it's no surprise that Google is attempting to score some brownie points with Symbian users. This point is driven even further with the release today of Google's native client for the S60 OS.

The application adds a Google Search shortcut to the S60 idle screen (only for devices with either a 'Ctrl' or 'pencil/edit' key), and provides even faster access than the addition to Nokia's mobile search. Typing a search query into the new native client will automatically load the search in the browser with one click access. You can download the new client at Google Mobile.

Sagem tries to find their niche with My411C Lulu Castagnette phone

Sagem tries to find their niche with My411C Lulu Castagnette phone

French mobile manufacturer Sagem has been dabbling in the fashion market for a while now, with devices like their my850v and my300c, all with mixed success, but Sagem is focused on finding a niche they can work with.

The My411C Lulu Castagnette is geared towards young kids and girls, featuring a teddy bear shaped external display. The features of this device are vastly unimpressive, with a standard VGA display, MP3 player, Bluetooth and WAP 2.0 browser sound (come on, for real?). The phone also comes with some cool exclusive Lulu Castagnette goodies. Something tells us Sagem still hasn't found their niche.

On first glance, the gaming device looks to resemble most clamshells on the market, except the internal display folds over to reveal another set of gaming-centric keys.

The extra space under the display also provides more space for speakers, for some stereo audio quality. The design looks exciting. Let's see what Samsung can do.

Blackberry email down again, RIM continues plagued server

With as many full-fledged Blackberry addicts as there are out there, you would think RIM would be on top of every tweak and problem as it happens, but yet again, Blackberry is being plagued with service outages as their email service is down again.

Following the blackout last month, which also provided competitor Palm with a new ad campaign, RIM claimed such problems would never happen again. This is exactly why you shouldn't make promises you can't keep because there are now millions of very angry Blackberry users. Or now, perhaps ex-Blackberry users.

NASA bringing mobile phones to the moon

NASA bringing mobile phones to the moon

If NASA is as serious about building a moon base at the south pole of the lunar satellite in 2020 as they say they are, then now would be a good time to start planning. NASA scientist along with the British National Space Center are planning to erect a satellite phone service for the moon so astronauts can not only make calls to Earth, but communicate with each other.

NASA and the BNSC plans to launch the Moonlite mission in 2012 as a prototype system for the actual service that will be in place for the astronauts. NASA expects that the men on the moon will get full four-bar service on the lunar service.

Nokia N810 upgrade with WiMAX leaked?

Shame on you Best Buy. Always jumping the gun on those misplaced ads before your supposed too. Oh, how we love you so. The leaked February edition of Best Buy’s online mobile buyer’s guide displays an assortment of sexy Nokia devices, but close inspection shows some odd details.

A device similar to the N810 is shown with a black case and an orange back lit keypad. There have been rumors floating around about a possible upgrade to the N810. Could this be a leaked peek at the N830 with a official unveiling at CTIA? This would be a perfect opportunity to introduce a new WiMAX device.
