RIM reveals upcoming Blackberry software update

RIM has announced that a new Blackberry software update should be popping up soon, most likely dropping in the first half of 2008. In a statement made at Lotusphere 2008, RIM issued a press release outlining the changes and improvements set to come from the update. Here is some of what we can expect (check out the full press release here):

Blackberry upgrade highlights:
  • Editable Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents
  • Search for and retrieve email messages from their email server even if the message is no longer stored on their BlackBerry
  • View HTML and rich text email messages with original formatting preserved
  • Enhanced security
