HTC Shift finally dated?

The official launch of the HTC Shift device had been delayed from a previous date set for November. Further delays have seemed to push the release of the mini-UMPC device into 2008. HTC has announced an official launch date in Britain for January 11, which leads us to expect we'll see the device at some point around the same time.
If you've already gone ahead and pre-ordered a HTC Shift, you might be left waiting until next year for a late Christmas present. The HTC Shift will offer Microsoft Vista, a QWERTY keyboard and 3G connectivity, in a device not much larger than a typical mobile phone.What's your take?
