Video recording on the iPhone

The reasoning behind Apple not having video recording support on the iPhone for its initial release is a matter of debate. The hardware is there, it just seems like a forgotten addition. A new demo application called Drunknbass claims to be able to add video recording to the iPhone at 45 frames per second (when and if a final version is released).
The beta program records 5 second of video at 10 fps, leaving us a little speculative about the 40 fps claim. The recorded video is then played back once, to much applause and geek-led jumps for joy. The final application will record for as much space as you have left on your iPhone (which would be a whole lot of time if you aren't a music hoarder), but more importantly, it shows that video capturing is possible on the phone. Whether or not Apple officially releases a video app is the question. What's your take?
