Samsung i640 listed as coming soon for Vodafone

Samsung i640 listed as coming soon for Vodafone

Vodafone has listed the Samsung i640 as one of their devices which is "coming soon". The i640 is the same WM 6 device as the Samsung i620, but with a special silver Vodafone exclusive design. Featuring triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, single-band UMTS/HSDPA (up to 3.6 Mbps), Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 MP camera and a full QWERTY keypad, the i640 is a pretty sweet addition to the Vodafone selection of smartphone devices.

True, it is sort of a bummer that it doesn't offer quad-band support or any WiFi functionality to speak of, but the i640 is sure to be a welcome launch to the UK market.

Huawei makes second jump to US with U1215

Huawei makes second jump to US with U1215

The FCC has recently approved the second handheld from Huawei bound for the U.S. The first device was the low-end clamshell Huawei M318, which was approved by the FCC in late December. The U1215, which seems like a upgraded US version of their U1205 device) supports the NAM 3G frequencies (850 / 1900 MHz), and offers a 1.3 MP camera, a WAP broswer, support for Bluetooth 1.2 (no 2.0?), and FM radio. And truth be told, is a much better looking, and all-together more complete device than the M318.

Samsung M110 "Solid" phone soon coming to O2 UK

Samsung M110

Samsung's M110 "Solid" phone is set to take on the abuse of the UK soon. The rugged exterior just seems to scream "Please throw me off a building and watch me take the fall." Samsung claims the device is the "first ultra durable handset", which is a claim that some other devices might say is preposterous. Besides their slightly tough-man design, the Solid is a sub-standard low-end device, offering EDGE / GPRS data, a 240 x 320 screen (which seems odd seeing the display is square shaped), Bluetooth, a VGA camera, FM tuner, and thankfully, MMS. The M110 will be available from O2 in the UK for £59.99, or around $120, soon.

MWG unveils upcoming handsets

MWG unveils upcoming handsetsMWG, previously known as O2 Asia, has unveiled a duo of new handsets set to be launched. The Zinc II and the Atom V were leaked by Hong Kong company Expansys. The Zinc II (pictured) keeps the slider form-factor of the original Zinc device, but has an improved Samsung 500 Mhz processor, HSDPA, tri-band UMTS and quadband GSM, GPS and a 2 MP camera. Quite an upgrade from the original.

The Atom V carries almost identical specs as the Zinc II, though opts for a Intel PXA 520 Mhz processor and no QWERTY keypad, instead subbing in a jog dial like the other members of the Atom series.

Motorola Z6m available in orange hue

Motorola Z6m available in orange hue

Motorola has unveiled a new color for their Z6m phone, featuring new accents and tones in orange, which will be available for the Korean market. The new color doesn't have any effect on the specs, which will still include an integrated MP3 player, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, a 2 MP camera, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Pricing info isn't available yet, but we expect the price to be the same as the normal phone, unless Motorola plans on making this model a special edition.

iPhone 1.1.3 firmware to offer Copy/Paste?

iPhone 1.1.3 firmware to offer Copy/Paste?It is being reported that the iPhone 1.1.3 firmware upgrade (which is rumored to be released during MacWorld 2008), will offer a Copy and Paste feature to text. It seems that the recent leak of the upgrade which has been spread across the net might not be the complete list of features which are available, as previously this copy/paste feature was not mentioned. The new upgrade should also be adding better stability to the device, which often has UI glitches and application hold ups.
