HTC "Dream": One of the Google phones
Story posted on: November 06, 2007, filed in: htc

HTC is developing a phone being referred to as the "Dream". One of the phones used to demonstrate the recently announced Google OS "Android", the Dream might be one of the first phones to offer Android when mid-2008 rolls along, which is when Google plans on rolling out their open-source OS. The HTC Dream reportedly measures around 3x5 inches, featuring a touch screen (like the one in this concept), a full swivel keypad, and a automatic tilting display. The Dream supposedly integrates a time-sensitive touch control system, which expands your area of control the longer you touch a spot on the display. Icons of commonly used applications run across the top of the screen. HTC, which has been a long time supporter of the Windows Mobile software, might be splitting their way slightly from Microsoft.

HTC also makes the treo's rebranded with company logo, its not a long time supporter of brokensoft. They just make a variety of products.

just to clear things up for the uninformed:
1. As said earlier, the picture is fake, and had absolutely nothing to do with android or the gphone variants.
2. Android is an operating system based on linux, which (for those who didn't know) rivals microsoft.
3. The author of this post didn't...(one or more of the below)
(a) know that android OS is based on linux
(b) knew it was but didn't know that was a problem
(c) Didn't see the windows key, or didn't know it was a windows key
(d) figured than none of the readers would notice any of the above, and/or didn't care if they did.
Then again, "the obvious" was already made "obvious" by [sn] obvious, so Everyone posting afterward already got the point when "obvious" stated the obvious...

Regardless of the make, model, and OS I'm intrigued. This looks like the 1 boys and girls...

This is not a picture of the "Dream" phone. It is a conceptual drawing of some device that the blogger used to make you read what was underneath it. There are zero pictures of an actual HTC Dream out there.

Not only a windows key but also an internet explorer.. mmm... not very accurate, is it?

Well, I just checked the Android project site...and it mentions that google won't be manufacturing any phones...it will just provide the software/Open OS...so i guess any phone will be a Gphone!!!

I see the "send" and "end" keys but I swear this looks more like a UMPC. Looks like a fingerprint magnet too. I'll probably still end up getting one.

Noticed the windows key as well, this is somehow lame. Also explain to me what part the actual "phone" part is, please.
Thanks for the info though!

To Joe: If you read it, you will see that they have, and I quote "been a long time supporter of the Windows Mobile software".
Thats probably why there is a Windows key.

Guess what! I just learned in the class that Temporal mapping on a single button for different functions is a bad idea!

If this is to be a google phone, why is there a windows key?
