Cellphone strap offers power boost

This cellphone strap is different than the rest in the market as it is partly useful, featuring the capability to power up your cellphone battery - albeit for a short while. It measures 7.5" long and can be opened to reveal several miniUSB connectors. Not too sure just how much longer will it be able to power your handset's battery when plugged in, but chances are it won't be for too long. Covered in leather, this nifty cellphone charm can be recharged by your PC (via USB, obviously). It retails for $12 a pop.

Word on the street has it that Archose will be introducing a new line of portable media players that come with SIM card slots. One can only speculate as to why Archos would want to do that, and chances are this SIM card will be used to give user access to 3G networks as well as the capability of downloading music on-demand without the need for a WiFi hotspot. Orange has so far been targeted as a possible network partner, although recent ripples in the industry seem to point toward AT&T and Neuf-Cegetel as well. As with any other rumor, time will tell and verify its truth.
Word on the street has it that Verizon is currently prepping a Samsung i760 world phone that will target frequent globetrotters. Needless to say, if it were to be a global handset, it will be both EV-DO and GSM with a chance for HSDPA to join in the party. Other than that, the rest of the i760's specifications ought to make it welcome in just about any corner of the world.
The FCC has just given its nod of approval for CDMA-enabled HTC Iris. It will be powered by the Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system and looks somewhat like one of the
Samsung has successfully developed the first 8 megapixel CMOS camera module for cellphones, measuring a mere 10.5mm x 11.5mm x 9.4mm while bringing autofocus support to the table. This means you will be able to maintain a form factor that is no different from current 3 megapixel camera phones while packing in the performance of an 8 megapixel monster. This diminutive camera module was made possible courtesy of its exclusive PIEZO technology. Mass production will begin in the first half of next year, so brace yourselves for a slew of Ultra Edition III (perhaps?) phones with uber cameras within.
Ever wondered how you wish you could broadcast your achievement to friends and family over a cellphone when you've scaled to the very summit of Mt. Everest? That dream can now be a reality, as China Mobile is currently running against time to install a cellphone tower of sorts on the roof of the world. This isn't an exercise in bragging, but was done so that is will be possible for folks in next year's Olympic torch relay to make calls. The station has been identified to be located at an altitude of 21,324 feet, with China Mobile using yaks and porters to transport all the necessary equipment.
Asus will be releasing its P527 smartphone in the South East Asian region, bringing some marked improvement over its predecessor, the P525 - especially with the inclusion of GPS navigation courtesy of an integrated SiRFStar III GPS chipset. In addition, you get a wide range of connectivity features such as WiFi and Bluetooth - pity it doesn't do 3G in any form though. This Windows Mobile-powered smartphone also comes with a 2 megapixel autofocus camera, a microSD memory card slot that supports microSDHC as well and a 2.6" QVGA display, all packed into a handset that measures 15.4mm thick while weighing 125 grams. It will first arrive in Hong Kong and Taiwan at the end of November, followed by Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, India and Turkey.
Those of you whom have played around with Installer.app have no doubt seen the ultra-cool NES emulator that the third-party application package provides. Now, jailbroken iPhones now have a Gameboy app which allows you to play emulated Gameboy games on the device. The interface looks to be just as cool as the NES interface, though we hear that the sound of the games still is in need of some tweaking. That's to be expected from an emulated third-party application on a hacked device.
