Sony Ericsson K950i concept

Don't you just love concept handsets? After all, these allow you to play with your imagination for the ultimate cellphone - never mind the engineering efforts required to manufacture one. The Sony Ericsson K950i concept comes with HSDPA connectivity as well as WiFi support, giving you the best of both worlds. Not only that, you also get a 6 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and video recording capabilities, 128MB internal memory (bummer!), M2 as well as microSD memory card support (up to 8GB), a miniUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and full 3D gaming support. Should you need an impromptu webcam, the K950i can be turned into an impromptu one as well. In the meantime, just keep your fingers crossed that Sony Ericsson engineers will make this dream a reality...

Valid point of view from "Riordan Caomhanach".
Seems SonyEricsson are struggling with the lens cover issue: quite a few solutions have emerged w. varying results.
My K750i for example, does have a cover - but it protrudes out of the body a good 5 mm (~3/16") AND it's sliding in the length direction, as . That inevetebly causes the cover to slide open when you stuff the phone in a pocket > collecting lint from the pocket ; or - conversely - opens as you take it out of your pocket.
*sigh* (so stupid).
In that respect the K800i & K810i are better, still w a protruding cover though.
Still other models sport a flush mounted lens cover - but then without any decent grip on them,
making it really fiddly to open.
*sigh* (so stupid).
><
You would wish that a"dream-phone" like the "K950"
would exceed the present industry standard 240x320
pixel resolution display.
Stainless sturdy weather-proof would appeal Big Time to me - and I know for a fact to a lot of others !

Cheers !

That's awesome, except I have one concern:
there'd better be a lens cover on that.

The STUPIDEST thing that Sony Ericsson did with the k850 from the k790/k8xx was get rid of the lens cover. They replaced it with a piece of glass, which is insane, because it can still get damaged.

I sent an email to Sony Ericsson asking why it was replaced by a piece of glass; even though it protects the lens, if the glass in FRONT of the lens becomes damaged, it still affects picture quality, whereäs the lens cover on the k790/k8xx keeps it safe. I said that the main reason why I purchased a k800i was because of the lens cover. The response thanked me for my question, and stated that the glass protects the lens. That's it. Useless response about useless glass.

It really just makes sense. The lens cover on the Sony Cybershot DSC-M1 is fantastic, and would work wonderfully in a device like this.
