More info on HTC Sedna

More info on HTC Sedna
There is now more information concerning the HTC Sedna (also known as the P6550), and users will be able to benefit from HSDPA connectivity (up to 7.2Mbps to boot) no matter where they are. Other features include a 3.5" touchscreen display, a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, a fingerprint reader for security purposes, a couple of SD/MMC memory card slots (definitely a first here), and an optional credit card reader and an extended battery. Hardware-wise, you also benefit from 64MB RAM (would've been nice to see 128MB), 256MB ROM, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and assisted GPS to help you get around. Pricing details and its release date are currently unknown, but this looks set to perch atop the hill where smartphones are concerned when it is unveiled.

Bluebird launches PIDION BM-500

Bluebird launches PIDION BM-500

For those who want to pick up a PDA phone in Korea can always choose the PIDION BM-500 from Bluebird. The specifications stated are pretty impressive, featuring 802.11b/g WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth and T-DMB support, a 2.8" QVGA TFT LCD display, a 1.3 megapixel camera, 512MB ROM, a miniSD memory card slot, and an IrDA interface that lets you use the BM-500 as a remote control. Too bad it still runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition instead of moving towards Windows Mobile 6 - strange decision, eh? Well, we won't see this Stateside anyways so it doesn't matter that there is no pricing attached to it just yet.

RakuRaku phone from Fujitsu

RakuRaku phone from Fujitsu
This is the fourth outing for Fujitsu when it comes to a RakuRaku handset, and this time we benefit from a 17.6mm thin clamshell handset that comes with pretty impressive specifications. You get an integrated GPS system within, a digital camera, noise reduction technology for clearer conversations no matter what the ambient noise level is like, and an automatic photo correction function that helps touch up your digital photos immediately. A Mobile G Scanner option lets you compose emails without touching your handset, using icons and drawings instead. I suppose it is pretty hard to understand and must be seen to be believed. No word on pricing as at press time.

LG sheds light on LG SH150

LG sheds light on LG SH150

Looks like LG has done it again - release yet another slider cellphone that will only be a Korea exclusive. The LG SH150 boasts a whole load of features such as atext viewer, an improved search function that makes it a cinch to find the desired content in a handset, a fast 7.2Mbps data transmission speed for quick mobile browsing, multi-channel S-DMB service support, WCDMA auto-roaming, mobile banking using the USIM card, an electronic dictionary, and a subway map for those with a poor sense of direction. The LG SH150 will retail for approximately $545 which is rather expensive no matter how you look at it, but the functions packed within ought to make anyone happy.

Palm Treo 750 gets Windows upgrade

Palm Treo 750 gets Windows upgrade

Owners of the Palm Treo 750 can finally experience the goodness of Windows Mobile 6 Professional for free, although the downside to this good news is, it affects customers in Australia only - specifically those who subscribe to the "3" network. Those lucky folks will be able to get the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade sometime in the middle of this month, while other Australian carriers will have to sit it out until early next month. To rub salt into the wounds, Palm has not released any similar upgrade to international users. According to the leaked picture, the release firmware versionis CE OS 5.2.1239 (Build 17746.0.2.4).

N81 dummy phones make an appearance

N81 dummy phones make an appearance

Rumors of the N81 definitely aren't new, but we finally have images of the N81 dummy phone. When compared to the N80, it is clear that the N81 is by far and large much smaller and slimmer despite cramming in control keys, stereo speakers, and 8GB of internal memory - making this a music-centric handset. Features include a 2 megapixel camera that is a step backwards from the 3 megapixel camera found on the N80, a 3.5mm stereo jack, a microUSB port, and a standard Nokia charging port. That's all we know about the N81 at this point in time - more details to come as news breaks.

HTC Touch II on the way?

HTC Touch II on the way?
While the HTC Touch was released just recently, it is interesting to note that the rumor mill has gone overtime, with the HTC Touch II being touted to be the next release. Also known as the P5500, the Touch II is said to come with TouchFLO technology 3G & HSPDA support, an integrated FM Radio, GPS navigation, and a slide-down numeric keyboard thrown in for good measure. Word on the street also has it that the HTC P3300 will be beefed up, and will henceforth be known as Polaris. Polaris is said to boast a 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, GPS navigation, 3G via HSPDA, and a 400Mhz Qualcomm processor. Such rumors also mention that both devices will make their debut this October.

New Gresso phones chic (and expensive)

New Gresso phones chic (and expensive)
Gresso is a design house that hails from Russia, and they certainly have good taste when it comes to creating opulent cellphones that cater to the ultra rich. Let's take a look at the Luna and Sol handsets that ooze with unnecessary luxury, being made out of African blackwood aged at least 200 years for a unique finish on each handset. The backing and main keypad use scratch-resistant titanium while the Sol's number buttons and front navigation key on both handsets are finished with gold Roman numerals. Shared features include a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, push email, and live instant messaging running on Windows Mobile 6 Standard. The Luna and Sol are expected to hit the market before the year is over for $6,872 and $9,620 respectively.

Sprint unveils LG LX160 handset

Sprint unveils LG LX160 handset
Sprint has just made available its LG LX160 clamshell handset that offers a fair amount of features at a reasonable price of $170 without having the need to tie yourself down to a contract of sorts. Of course, if you want the LG LX160 for nothing, just sign up for a two-year contract and you're good to go. Features include Bluetooth connectivity, handsfree calling support, and the ability to hook up to your computer to act as a modem, although I doubt anyone would use that feature. Unfortunately, no camera is attached - a move that is rather unforgivable in this day and age. Great for a beginner's phone if you're getting one for your college-bound kid.

HTC Advantage arrives at US shores

HTC Advantage arrives at US shores

The HTC Advantage will finally arrive on US shores, and this is set to replace notebooks - or will it? The $899 price tag certainly suggests so, but I feel that the Advantage remains in no man's land. After all, measuring 5.25" x 3.86" x 0.63" certainly won't make it slip into your pockets easily, and the 5" touchscreen display will certainly cramp your style when dealing with large documents. Features include WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a miniSD card slot, Windows Mobile 6, Outlook Mobile, an 8GB hard drive, 128MB RAM, a 3 megapixel camera, GPS navigation, and a magnetically-connected QWERTY keyboard. At that price, you could probably pick up a decent notebook that does much more, although your shoulders will have to suffer a wee bit extra from lugging it around.
