Sagem my850v released

There is no word on pricing details for this tri-band GSM handset.

HTC P6300 actually the XDA Argon

HTC P6300 actually the XDA Argon
Looks like the HTC P6300 is now finally available as an unlocked handset for £375.02 - pretty pricey, but at the very least you won't be locked into any contract for that matter. Also known as the XDA Argon or Panda, the P6300 runs on the archaic Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC - strange move that. Features of this quad-band smartphone include WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, an SD memory card slot, a miniUSB connector, a 2 megapixel camera, and a Samsung 400MHz processor running the entire show. It would've been nice to see Windows Mobile 6.0 being bundled with this, but I suppose stranger things have happened. Time for an upgrade, perhaps?

Playboy takes on the iPhone

Playboy takes on the iPhone
Looks like the iPhone will be visited by the luscious bunnies at the Playboy Mansion, and this revamped phone interface will be officially known as the iPlayboy. According to Playboy, their effort will come with a dozen sexy but non-nude wallpapers on the iPhone, complete with a special photo album filled to the brim with another 12 photos of Playmates, an episode of Playboy's Sirius Satellite Radio show, and a customized video made just for the iPhone's interface. This virtual swag is free (downloadable on the main Playboy site) so you need not cough up a single cent to throw more curves than your iPhone can handle.

Sprint BlackBerry 8830 World Edition

Sprint BlackBerry 8830 World Edition
Sprint has made known that it will be the second provider to offer the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition in the US, which means subscribers to its network will be able to roam more than just North America with ease. Instead of the silver color adopted by Verizon, Sprint has opted to a more businesslike black color while sharing the same unlocked SIM card slot that enables connections to both CDMA and GSM networks. Sprint's offering will share the same pricing structure as Verizon's handset and other BlackBerries, retailing for $200 a pop with a 2-year contract and rebates.

Changes in T-Mobile BlackBerry 8320

Changes in T-Mobile BlackBerry 8320

Word has it that the BlackBerry 8320 appearing on T-Mobile later this September will come with a few minor changes to its hardware. The camera will be a 3.2 megapixel shooter (or better!) with 6x zoom, while the 8320 sports a microSD memory card slot, 64MB of internal memory, and support for streaming media. Best of all is the inclusion of WiFi connectivity, making it compatible with T-Mobile's recently launched HotSpot @Home service that gives you WiFi connectivity as long as you're within range. Surfing on a device with such a small screen is another matter altogether though. No word on pricing, so you'll have to wait until September for more information.

Sleek looking cellphone concept

Sleek looking cellphone concept

Designer Jacob Palmborg has a totally different take on just how a cellphone ought to look like, boasting a clean, Zen-like design that is made from plastic and metal with a bent in the middle to prevent its face clear of smudges, dirt, and scratching. The full surface OLED touchscreen display doubles up as a menu system and numeric keypad, while the back carries a fingerprint reader. This fingerprint reader acts as your Power button as well as key lock, doing away with pressing a combination of buttons that we're accustomed to these days. Who else thinks this is better than the iPhone?

Sprint gets new LG slider

Sprint gets new LG slider
Looks like Sprint has a new slider handset coming out this fall, and this time it is courtesy of LG. Boasting a QWERTY keyboard for those who love text messaging, word has it that this model will be called the LG LX260. Its specifications have not yet been confirmed, although it seems it will come with a 1.3 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot, an MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity with stereo support, and built-in email and instant messaging applications. No idea on whether this will support EV-DO or not, but I'll be damned if it doesn't. Looks pretty sweet to me, but chances are it will be another fingerprint magnet as you pass it round the table to your ring of jealous friends.

Nintendo rumored to supply iPhone games

Nintendo rumored to supply iPhone games

The hype machine for Apple's iPhone has been going into overdrive for quite some time now, and news has just trickled in from Rumorsville that Nintendo will be supplying Apple's iPhone with games. These games can be purchased from the iTunes store for $29 a pop. Pretty pricey, I must say. Hopefully they won't be the same old games from the SNES and NES era, or else a whole lot of people would be pissed. With the iPhone's touchscreen capability, it is worth speculating whether Nintendo DS games will make their way to the iPhone. Instead of having repeat titles, what about original IPs, Big N? Do you think this rumor will be substantialized by fact, or it will remain as hogwash?

Nokia 6086 does the WiFi tango

Nokia 6086 does the WiFi tango
One look at the Nokia 6086 and you will hardly notice anything outstanding about it. For starters, this is just a quad-band GSM/EDGE clamshell handset and comes with the most rudimentary of features including a VGA camera with video recording capability, MP3 playback, Bluetooth connectivity, and a microSD memory card slot. The main edge it has would be 802.11b/g connectivity, letting you hook up to any wireless network available, although surfing on such a small screen does more harm than good. The Nokia 6086 was launched along with T-Mobile HotSpot @Home, bringing the Internet along with you in such a small form factor. While this is a nice feature to have, I seriously have my doubts people would use this as their primary surfing device.

Samsung launches A717 and A727 in US

Samsung launches A717 and A727 in US

Samsung has just officially launched the A717 and A727 cellphones in the US, hoping to bite into the 3G pie with both HSDPA handsets. The former is a 12.9mm thin clamshell phone, while the latter takes the candybar format, and thus trimming its dimensions to a mere 8.9mm. Both handsets feature video sharing function for enhanced video transmission, speakerphone capability, Bluetooth connectivity, and supports music downloads. Choices, choices - which is the best 3G phone in your opinion?

Samsung announces SGH-T409 cellphone

Samsung announces SGH-T409 cellphone
Samsung has just announced that the SGH-T409 will boast support for the recently launched T-Mobile HotSpot @Home service, bringing WiFi connectivity with you wherever you go. Sure, you also get all the other features such as a 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom, Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone functionality, and EDGE. Makes me wonder why would you want to surf the Internet with the tiny 1.77" 65k color display that supports just 128 x 160 pixels resolution. After all, there are better smartphones out there which are more suited for mobile Internet browsing around.
