Rumor of Playboy cellphone

Rumor of Playboy cellphone

With Levi's taking the plunge into the highly competitive world of cellphones, it is no surprise to see another company follow its cue, but Playboy?! Chances are you will see the handsets provided by LG, Motorola, and Siemens, although they will be carrying the iconic bunny badge instead. Makes you wonder what would make someone pick up one of these...will it be due to the extra strong vibration feature? Exclusive subscription to Adult Only mobile channels? Saucy ringtones that has no place in most social settings? Only time will tell, but I'll stick to a vanilla-flavored handset, thank you very much.

O2 Helen emerges

O2 Helen emerges
Looks like word is floating around of a successor to the O2 Stealth. This new smartphone has been codenamed the O2 Helen, but other than the name, nothing else much is known about it. We do know that it supports GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS (no word on HSDPA though) and is powered by the Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system. A 520MHz Marvell PXA 270 processor controls all the action, aided by 64MB RAM and 256MB ROM. A microSD memory card can always be inserted should you ever find the need to expand upon its memory.

Pantech reveals DMB slider phone

Pantech reveals DMB slider phone

Pantech has just unveiled its new DMB slider handset in Korea, and this slim cellphone measures a mere 9.9mm thin, so you can be sure that it won't cause an unsightly bulge in your pocket no matter where you go. Its thickness also makes it one of the slimmest mobile TV cellphones available in Korea, but other than the aesthetic value, the remaining features are pretty rudimentary, ranging from the 1.3 megapixel camera, 2.2" display, built-in dictionary, and an integrated MP3 player. There is no word on pricing as at press time.

The Zikom Z-510 Motorola clone

The Zikom Z-510 Motorola clone

It doesn't take a genius to point out that the Zikom Z-510 cellphone has taken its design cues from Motorola's line of handsets. Unfortunately, the specifications are nothing to shout about either, as this clamshell handset comes with a mere 1.3 megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot with support of up to 1GB cards only, audio and video playback, and a small OLED display in front. There is no word on pricing or availability of the Z-510, nor in which region will it be released.

Is this Nokia 7900 for real?

Is this Nokia 7900 for real?

Apparently, word is floating around that Nokia's upcoming 7900 will come with a unique design that boasts criss-cross grooves behind and in front. In addition, you get both Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a built-in FM radio, a 2 megapixel camera with flash, email, multimedia playback, 1GB of internal memory, and a 320 x 240 screen that displays up to 16 million colors. The Nokia 7900 purportedly measures 106mm x 44mm x 14mm. Sometimes, in the quest for attention, some imaginative and talented folks have come up with all sorts of cellphone designs to capture the imagination of the masses, and I believe that this mock up of the Nokia 7900 is one of them.

LG Fusic II is due soon
Looks like the LG Fusic II will be coming our way very soon, although very little is known about this handset other than it featuring a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 220 x 176 pixel display, and EV-DO support. Rumors abound that the LG Fusic II will be released within the next few months, but it is best to wait for an official statement from the folks at LG themselves. The design is extremely sweet and pleasing to the eye. Will you be picking up this clamshell handset when it is released?

Motorola Ming gets upgrade

Motorola Ming gets upgrade

Certain sources have sent word that the Motorola Ming will be getting an upgrade pretty soon, and some of the more notable changes include 3G connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera with a CIF resolution of 352 x 488 pixels, and "livelier menus". By that I presume they mean a more robust and responsive menu system, which is always a good thing. Release dates have been held close to the chest, but signs point toward AT&T being one of the first network carriers to launch the Motorola Ming 2.0 to the public.

Huawei M318 coming to US

Huawei M318 coming to US
The almighty FCC have given their collective nods of approval for the Huawei M318 clamshell CDMA cellphone that comes complete with MetroPCS branding. Don't expect a slew of bells and whistles though, as you won't even be getting Bluetooth connectivity let alone a camera inside. Additional details about the Huawei M318 are scant at this moment, so we can only guess that the M318 will be dirt cheap. Great for those who want a basic handset without running the risk of being accused of industrial espionage at the workplace.
