Bicycle cellphone charger
Story posted on: January 19, 2007. Filed in: motorola.

Motorola is currently working on building a charging system specifically for cellphones on bicycles, ensuring that pedal power is put to good use. Since many emerging markets suffer from a dearth of wire-line telephone networks, cellphones have become an essential tool for communications. It would also be cool if this new device would be able to be mounted on exercise bikes as well. My money is on China being the world's largest market for these new bicycle-powered cellphone charger, and with the country making a move to standardize all chargers, you have one huge money spinning business just up on the horizon.

This firm already sells a bicycle cellphone charger. It can charge anything that usually plugs into a car cigarette lighter socket www.econvergence.net/cyclech.htm

It does work, I built one myself before Motorola came out with it. I tested it with my Motorola e815 and it worked very well.

Looks like a 'green way' to rechage batteries.
Good to see such while greenhouse gases plunge the sky. But how many kg-s of CO2 emissions could this potentially eliminate?... :o
