4G wave hits China

China might not have 3G connectivity, but this could be due to the fact that the country is busy gearing up for the 4G standard instead. It seems that a group of 10 leading domestic institutions are working together through the FuTURE Project channel, rolling out 4G connectivity in Shanghai on Sunday. It is widely tipped that the first field tests involving 4G will begin shortly, boasting data transmission speeds of up to 100MB per second, making it by far and large many times faster than existing 3G networks. A commercial 4G launch is expected to happen in China when 2010 rolls around – that is, assuming the world doesn’t end up in an apocalyptic war before then.
